A PERSONAL JOURNEY WITH A PURPOSE
For Christine Henderson, MBA, Founder & CEO of Pure Health Culture, the decision to build a career in health and wellness grew from a deeply personal experience.
Christine’s father arrived in the United States as an immigrant on a work visa and worked hard to build a life and provide for his family. Work and responsibility often came before his own health. When he passed away in 2009, Christine was left with a lesson that would eventually change the direction of her own life: we can spend years working to build a good life while putting our health on the back burner.
At the time, Christine had built her professional career in government contracting and business. After her father’s death, her priorities began to shift. She became increasingly drawn to health and wellness and eventually made the decision to transition into the field professionally.
Christine found a particular connection to the active adult industry, where she saw how thoughtful wellness programming could help people remain active, independent, engaged, and connected as they age.
That experience helped shape Pure Health Culture.
Today, Christine serves as the primary contract Fitness & Wellness Coordinator for a large 801-home active adult community in Northern Virginia. She manages a team of fitness professionals, personal trainers, and wellness coaches and oversees a comprehensive fitness and wellness program designed around the needs of an active adult population.
Her work extends well beyond group fitness. Christine develops community health and wellness partnerships with local universities, healthcare organizations, and community providers, including Sentara and UVA Health. These relationships bring additional resources directly into the community through periodic health screenings, wellness talks, educational programs, special events, and onsite health and wellness resources.
This hands-on experience has shaped Pure Health Culture's approach: effective community wellness is not simply about filling a fitness calendar. It requires strong programming, trusted professionals, community partnerships, consistent management, and an understanding of the people being served.
Through Pure Health Culture, Christine brings this experience to active adult communities, residential properties, employers, and organizations looking to develop or strengthen their wellness offerings.
Christine holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree, along with professional credentials and training in group fitness, yoga, Pilates, behavior change, and nutrition. Her business background influences how she approaches operations, partnerships, accountability, and program management, while her wellness experience keeps the work grounded in the needs of participants.
For Christine, Pure Health Culture represents both a professional journey and a personal commitment inspired by her father:
Don't wait to make your health a priority.
Today, she is helping organizations create communities where people have more opportunities, resources, and support to do exactly that.
